Integrated Pre-K
The Maryville City Schools Integrated PreK is a program that offers preschoolers, with and without disabilities, challenging experiences through a curriculum emphasizing social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development. As of August 2021, an integrated PreK classroom has existed at each elementary school allowing families to take advantage of services provided at their neighborhood school. Each program will integrate Voluntary PreK students (income eligibility guidelines), tuition peer models (no income eligibility guidelines), and students with disabilities. Currently, peer model applications are only being accepted for children and grandchildren of current employees.
The integrated PreK classroom is a structured teaching environment where children with varying developmental abilities learn together in a classroom that is staffed with one dual licensed teacher (special education and regular education early childhood) and two education assistants. The foundation of these integrated programs is to teach children how to problem solve and ask/answer questions while emphasizing verbal expression, peer engagement, independence, self-confidence, and control.
