First Grade
First grade marks an important milestone for young children. First graders have to use the social skills they developed in preschool and kindergarten in more mature ways. The true magic of first grade happens as children develop the ability to understand what letters and numbers really mean. When they’re ready, they’ll be able to “crack the code” and read words. First graders need to be surrounded with excitement and encouragement, and given examples of how we learn from mistakes. With teamwork between teachers, parents, and kids, first grade is a fabulous, good time.
Sam Houston teachers use SeeSaw as the primary classroom communication tool. Teachers share important classroom information such as newsletters, school events, and field trips. As well, students post pictures and videos of their class work. Parents are able to connect directly to their child's classroom and account via the SeeSaw app/website.
If your child attended Sam Houston last year, then you will need to do nothing. You are already connected and your child's new class will appear in your account.
If you are new to Sam Houston, your child's teacher will give you an access code along with all of the instructions you will need to get connected.
